The Pontiac Godfathers turned back the Lake Erie Arryns, 6-5, at Pontiac Copperdome. Carlos Alvarado, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. The win takes Pontiac to 6-9.
Had Alvarado not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Alvarado hit a 2-run single. The Godfathers took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Lake Erie manager Louis Espinosa. "But we decided not to take it."
