The Hermit Crabs earned a hard-fought, 4-3 win in 10 innings at The Shell. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Newmarket pitcher Pedro Torres. Torres went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe García snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Sean Ellis suffered the loss. The loss puts Newmarket at 4-11.
The Hermit Crabs got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Eric Conley. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Hermit Crabs.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Conley.
