The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus beat the Newmarket Rogues, 8-4, at Rogues Stadium. Smoky Mountain shortstop Luis Martínez had the hot bat. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Wanko Wasko got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 0. The save went to Albert Longoria, his 5th this season.

Reginald Parker, who is tied for 2nd in the PA in RBI with 13, had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Smoky Mountain right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Hobeaus in front, 3-2.

"It was our day today," Parker told the Smoky Mountain Chronicle. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
