Vargas Stars as Commodores Top Crawdads, 8-2

With Francisco Vargas leading the charge, the Put-In-Bay Commodores defeated the Cut Off Crawdads, 8-2. Vargas was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Commodores. The Commodores with just their 4th win in 17 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Put-In-Bay needed the clutch hitting of Daniel Tidwell to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Commodores on top, 6-2. For the game, Tidwell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Tidwell told a Put-In-Bay Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
