The Eugene Vandals wasted an inspired, 5.1-inning effort from starter Spike Mayer, falling, 1-0, to the Cut Off Crawdads at Crawdads Field. Melvin Hanna notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. The Crawdads raised their record to 6-12.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Cut Off. That's when 21-year old catcher Truman Miner hit a run-scoring double off Jeff Rodríguez to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Cut Off manager Miguel Aguilar said.
