Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Crawdads
The 8-6 Cut Off win over Lake Erie was due largely to Al Gross. The Crawdads left fielder was 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Phil McKinley in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Tom McClendon took the loss for Lake Erie. The Crawdads raised their record to 12-7.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the tenth. With Cut Off trailing 6-5, Gross jumped on a fastball from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Tom McClendon and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Crawdads had a walk-off win.

"This place was electric at the end," Gross said.
