Valdéz Powers Commodores Offense
A 3-RBI performance from third baseman Jorge Valdéz, who is rated as the 24th best prospect by BNN, led the Put-In-Bay Commodores to a win over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 10-6. The winner was Myron Garrett in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Gijsbert Arents took the loss. The Commodores with just their 5th win in 19 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

Marty Barber had a big 3-run home run for the Commodores in the bottom of the second inning. With Put-In-Bay trailing 4-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Gijsbert Arents and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Commodores ahead, 5-4.

"Winning never gets dull," said Barber.
