Patrick Lifts Lighthouse to 7-6 Triumph
|
The timely hitting of Joe Patrick helped the Long Island Lighthouse down the Echo Park Lakers, 7-6. Patrick went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 for the Lighthouse. Anthony Hines went 6 innings for Long Island to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with no runs. He scattered 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record improves to 3-1. Earning his 4th save of the year was Larry Alexander.
With Long Island leading 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Patrick batted against Echo Park pitcher Carlos Sandoval. Patrick hit a sinker to left for a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Lighthouse on top, 7-1.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Lighthouse manager Michael Esposito. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The Lighthouse are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 6th win in 14 games.
