The Eugene Vandals took Lake Erie pitcher Howard Doss's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Riot Zone. The final score had Eugene getting past the Arryns, 3-2. Doss went 8 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 10. With the win, Eugene goes to 11-9, while the Arryns fall to 12-8.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Moromao Akechi had a chance to end it. Lake Erie pitcher Oscar Moore had other ideas. But with one out, Akechi hit a sacrifice fly. The Vandals had the win.

"This wasn't a good win," said Akechi. "It was a great win."
