Hobeaus Win Thriller, 4-3
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus faced a tough opponent in Kennesaw pitcher Glenn Murphy, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Smokies Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Murphy went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Smoky Mountain reliever Albert Longoria picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Marlon Henderson absorbed the loss. Smoky Mountain is 10-12 and Kennesaw, with the loss, 11-11.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jian-guo Cuan in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Marlon Henderson to win the game for Smoky Mountain. The home crowd went nuts.
Cuan attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
