Rogues Reel In 2-1 Win
|
The Ballpark on the Beach hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
In a tight contest between the Newmarket Rogues and the South Beach Blaze, Gary Dyer was the determining factor. The Newmarket right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Bobby Spears earned the save for Newmarket, his 6th of the year.
Newmarket used a clutch at-bat from Patrick Nichols to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rogues ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Dyer told the Newmarket Daily News: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
The third-place Rogues now have a record of 12-10.
