Hermit Crabs Suffer 5-3 Home Defeat
|
The Monroeville Yinzers overcame a pretty good performance by Huntington right fielder Cisco Alvarado, beating the Hermit Crabs, 5-3, at The Shell. Alvarado went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. Bob Powell, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save. The win puts the Yinzers at 13-12, while the Hermit Crabs drop to 14-11.
Monroeville used the hitting of Bernardo Valéncia to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Yinzers on top, 4-3. For the game, Valéncia had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Valéncia.
