Newmarket Beaten, 6-3, by South Beach

The South Beach Blaze took Newmarket pitcher Simak Vehuny's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Ballpark on the Beach. The final score had South Beach getting past the Rogues, 6-3. Vehuny went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 4. South Beach reliever Shigekazu Abe picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tony Valera took the loss. Jody Ross closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
South Beach took a 6-3 lead on Roberto Durán's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Durán hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Newmarket pitcher Tony Valera visibly frustrated.
"We didn't play well enough to win," Newmarket skipper Clay Myers said.
The second-place Blaze are now 15-11, the Rogues 8-18.
