Crawdads Win at Home, 6-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Tula and Cut Off Crawdads get after it.
The Cut Off Crawdads picked up a win at Crawdads Field, dropping the Chicago Tula, 6-2. Jesse Blanton, who is tied for 10th in the PA with a 8.4 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. Blanton, now 4-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Bonifacio Juárez earned save number 9 this season.
John Cross had a big 2-run home run for the Crawdads in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cut Off leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Guillén and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Crawdads on top, 5-2.
"Jesse did a heck of a job," said Cut Off manager Javier Flores.
The triumph puts Cut Off at 17-14 for the season.
