Cut Off Grabs 5-2 Road Win
|
The Cut Off Crawdads got a strong performance from pitcher Brandon Whitney. Unforgivable stymied the South Beach offense en route to a solid, 5-2 win at The Ballpark on the Beach. In 8 innings, Whitney surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Bruce Cunningham earned the save for Cut Off, his 5th of the year.
Cut Off used a well-timed hit by Martin Watson to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Gerald Merendino.
With the win, Cut Off has a record of 17-15. South Beach falls to 18-14.
