The Put-In-Bay Commodores topped the Kennesaw Jets, 5-2, in USPL Single A action at Jets Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Put-In-Bay pitcher and Kansas City, Missouri, native Marvin Garner. In 5 innings, Garner surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Sancho Sánchez earned the save for Put-In-Bay, his 7th.

Put-In-Bay used a clutch at-bat from Javier Peña to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Commodores ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It's not about individual awards," Peña told a Put-In-Bay Chronicle reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."

The Commodores, at 17-18, sit in 7th place in the Premier A.
