Herons Walk It Off for 14th Win of Season
|
The Holy City Herons faced a tough opponent in Cut Off pitcher Fernando Escalante, but still scratched out a win at Mango Yard by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Escalante went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. By defeating Cut Off, the 9th-place Herons improved to 14-21.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 24-year old right fielder Víctor Ríos had a chance to be the hero. Cut Off pitcher Will Gordon wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Ríos got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. The Herons had themselves a thrilling win.
Said Ríos: "It's just one win, but it feels like more when you outlast a tough opponent."
