Commodores Slap 7-2 Loss on Alaskan
The Put-In-Bay Commodores stymied the Alaskan Bush Pilots, 7-2, at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. Francisco Vargas had a good day at the plate. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Put-In-Bay. Francis Davis, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held Alaskan to 2 runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Vargas had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the fourth when the 21-year old center fielder hit a solo home run. The home run gave Put-In-Bay the lead, 2-0. It was his 4th home run of the season.

Put-In-Bay manager José Trejo was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
