Flamingos Stumble, Lose to Kingfishers
|
Pittsburgh Kingfishers starter Marvello Manalo had all his pitches working at The Strip. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-0 Pittsburgh win over the Las Vegas Flamingos. Manalo, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. Pittsburgh is now 9-8.
Kelsey Tate had a big solo home run for the Kingfishers in the top of the fourth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a sinker from Noud Taaij, who led the SL in ERA with 1.66 in 2054, and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-0.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Manalo.
