Mathis Powers Commodores Offense

A 5-RBI performance from shortstop Billy Mathis, who is tied for 5th in the PA in hits with 51, led the Put-In-Bay Commodores to a win over the Newmarket Rogues, 9-2. Picking up the win was Jacobim Mugatu. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 1. Newmarket has now lost 5 in a row.
With Put-In-Bay leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Mathis hit a fastball from Tae-kyun Hong for a bases-clearing double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Commodores ahead, 4-0.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Clay Myers.
