The Cut Off Crawdads defeated the Lake Erie Arryns, 8-3, at Arryns Ballpark. Chip Garland produced 2 singles and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 1. Cut Off is now 20-25, Lake Erie 22-23.
Cut Off got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Andrés Guevara. The catcher stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Crawdads ahead, 7-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Cut Off manager Miguel Aguilar.
