The South Beach Blaze got a stellar effort from pitcher Ben Huber, helping South Beach score a win over the visiting Pontiac Godfathers, 2-1. Huber picked up the win for South Beach, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-1. Ron Pitts got the save, the 7th for him this season.
Pedro Alonso, who is tied for 8th in the PA in doubles with 9, helped out the South Beach cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"When I throw strikes I'm good, if I don't I'm not very good," said Huber. "So I just have to throw strikes."
