Vandals Send Lake Erie Home with 5-3 Loss
|
The Eugene Vandals locked up a win at Arryns Ballpark, knocking off the Lake Erie Arryns, 5-3. On the mound for Eugene was right-hander Curt Case. He played a major role in the triumph. Jeff Rodríguez picked up the save, his 8th. The Vandals improved their record to 21-24 by beating Lake Erie.
Moromao Akechi broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Vandals in front, 1-0. For the game, Akechi was 1-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.
"Curt did a good job keeping the game under control," said Eugene manager Milton Mathews.
