David Mann, who is tied for 4th in the PA in strikeouts with 59, had a strong outing for the Eugene Vandals against the Chicago Tula at Ramblers Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Eugene is now 23-24, Chicago 26-21.

With two out in the top of the seventh, Li-ping Niu had a game-changing hit. The Vandals right fielder slammed a run-scoring single off José Tapia, making the score 4-2, Eugene.

"I thought we competed really well," said Vandals manager Milton Mathews. "I thought the energy was really good."
