South Beach Dispatched, 3-1, by Caldwell
|
Caldwell Chiefs starter David Meyer was in fine form. He led his team to victory over the South Beach Blaze, 3-1. Meyer, now 9-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 7, and allowing no runs. Marvin Justice recorded the save for Caldwell, his 21st of the season.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Charles Petit had a game-changing hit. The Chiefs second baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Rick Burnett, making the score 2-0, Caldwell.
"Nice win," said Petit. "Not sure what else you want me to say."
By defeating South Beach, the second-place Chiefs improved to 34-23.
