Walleye Shut Out Vandals, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Walla Walla Walleye and the Eugene Vandals, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Allen Wagner proved to be the difference. The Walla Walla right-hander earned props for his performance in the 1-0 Walleye win. Walla Walla is now 26-32, while Eugene is 34-24.
Walla Walla catcher Nick Jackson helped the Walleye go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Jackson hit a run-scoring single off Eugene pitcher Kent Church.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Wagner.
