Fans of the Redwood Rhinos who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Redwood win over the visiting Northwest Territory Beavers, 4-3. Clint Ellis started for the home team against Randy Powell. Clint Ellis earned accolades for his performance. Bob Morton locked down his 1st save.

Redwood took the lead, 4-0, on Kevin Reed's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Northwest Territory pitcher Aatos Niemikorpi in the bottom of the seventh.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Northwest Territory manager Robert Acker.
