South Beach Upended by Put-In-Bay, 6-2
|
Put-In-Bay pitcher Arturo Santos had a large part in his team beating the South Beach Blaze, 6-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Santos, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Put-In-Bay pushed its record to 31-30.
Richard Langlais had a big 3-run home run for the Commodores in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Put-In-Bay leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Spencer Margó, who is tied for 9th in the PA with a 8.3 K/9 rate, and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Commodores ahead, 6-2.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Put-In-Bay manager José Trejo. "Our pregame was pretty good."
