Philadelphia got a first-rate effort from pitcher Nick Jacobs, who frustrated Chicago hitters en route to a 1-0 Liberty U-24 triumph at Liberty Youth Field. Philadelphia reliever Paul Dunn picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ray Berard took the loss. The Liberty U-24 improved to 35-26.
The Liberty U-24 got a clutch hit from right fielder Armando Madrid. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Liberty U-24.
"We take it day by day here," said Madrid, "and today was a good one for us."
