Bush Pilots Reel In 8-0 Win
|
Newmarket had no answer for Alaskan Bush Pilots starter Chris Waters, who flummoxed Rogues hitters as the Bush Pilots cruised to victory, 8-0. In 6 innings, Waters surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The save went to Sergio Delgado, number 1 for him.
Maurice King had a big grand slam home run for the Bush Pilots in the top of the fifth inning. With Alaskan leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Don Alistair, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2060 draft, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bush Pilots ahead, 7-0.
"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Clay Myers.
The last-place Bush Pilots lifted their record to 25-37.
