Cajuns Prevail, 3-1, Over Tijuana
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Crowley Cajuns and the Tijuana Toros, 19-year old left-handed pitcher Jesse Blanton was the difference-maker. The Crowley left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Blanton picked up the win for Crowley, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The loss drops the Toros to 1-3.
Ed Steele had a big 2-run triple for the Cajuns in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Crowley leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Xin Zhan and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cajuns ahead, 3-0.
Crowley manager Bill Wallace commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
