Vandals Roll to 10-3 Win Over Crawdads
The Eugene Vandals topped the Cut Off Crawdads, 10-3, at The Riot Zone. Eugene designated hitter Armando Ortíz was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times. Picking up the win was Steve Kidd. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 3. Tied up with the Crawdads in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Vandals got a boost from third baseman Glenn Webster. With the bases loaded, Webster saw a 1-0 knuckle curve from Brant Owens and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Eugene on top, 4-3.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ortíz. "And not try to do too much."
