Behind a solid performance from catcher Ty Riese, the Germantown Uruguayans defeated the Fort Knox Centennial, 8-4. Riese went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Uruguayans. Kicham Sassi claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 4.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Bill Hayes picked up the save for Germantown, his 3rd of the year.
Riese contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Germantown in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Riese took a fastball from Rick Ernst and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Uruguayans to leap in front, 4-3.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Riese.
With the loss, Fort Knox falls to 3-2.
