Ladue got a big-time effort from pitcher Umberto Erkelens, but it wasn't enough to keep the Amarillo Warheads from winning the game, 8-1. Erkelens threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Amarillo reliever Jeremy Rice picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Mario González was tagged with the loss. With the loss, Ladue sinks to 5-2.

Amarillo used the clutch hitting of Mike Nelson to snag the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Warheads ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Nelson.
