Fort Knox and Shady Side played a hard-fought contest.

The Fort Knox Centennial faced a tough opponent in Shady Side pitcher Robert Martin, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Terriers Ballpark by a final score of 3-1. Martin went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. Eugene Smith earned the win for Fort Knox. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Domingo Soto nailed down his 2nd save.

José Oliveira helped out the Fort Knox cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 3 with a double.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Fort Knox manager Michael Malloy.

The win leaves Fort Knox with a record of 2-6.
