The performance of Elijah Smalls proved critical in helping Put-In-Bay beat Eugene, 6-3. The Commodores left fielder was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs. At 42-27, the Commodores have a slim two-game lead in the Premier A.

Put-In-Bay got a big at-bat from Murfreesboro, Tennessee native Alex Cooper, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Commodores ahead, 2-1.

"This is a very good team," said Smalls. "We have the chance to do something special."
