The Eugene Vandals got a sterling performance from pitcher Ben Watkins, but the Newmarket Rogues still prevailed, 3-2. Watkins threw 8.2 innings of 6-hit ball. Reliever Mike Zimmerman picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ben Watkins, who is rated as the 49th best prospect by BNN, took the loss. Newmarket, with the win, is 22-47.

Newmarket used the timely hitting of Oliver Joicey to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rogues on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Credit where credit is due," said Joicey, "this was a team win."
