The Detroit Rock City could not turn a fine performance from pitcher José Martínez into a win. Instead, the Philadelphia Liberty prevailed, 5-4, in 16 innings. Martínez threw 7.2 innings allowing 2 runs. With the win, Philadelphia climbs to 10-11.

The clutch hit was provided by John Thomas. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Miguel González in the bottom of the 16th.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Thomas told the Philadelphia News.
