Fan Hammers 2 Homers in 5-2 Win
|
The Newmarket Rogues topped the Eugene Vandals, 5-2, at Rogues Stadium. Newmarket third baseman Bing-zhang Fan was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bobby Spears, who leads the PA in saves with 19, earned the save for Newmarket. Newmarket is in 7th place in the Premier A with a record of 31-38.
Fan contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Newmarket in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Fan took a curveball from Stanley Werner and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Rogues to leap in front, 3-2.
Fan called the win "a team effort."
