A good performance from right fielder Santos Mata helped the Hicksville Hounds defeat the Ogallala Octopi, 7-6. Mata was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Hounds. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Hounds hope to make a postseason run.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Mata hit a fastball from Brenden Pilgrim for a run-scoring single. The Hounds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Mata.
