Uruguayans Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Hounds, 7-5
|
Hicksville got a terrific performance from pitcher Willie Silva, but it wasn't enough to beat the Germantown Uruguayans. Germantown won the Hound Pound contest, 7-5. Silva threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The save went to Michael Sutton, his 3rd this season. Germantown has a mark of 4-6 after the win.
Germantown used the timely hitting of Harun Abdul-Hamid to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Uruguayans on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Abdul-Hamid told the Germantown Chronicle.
