Crawdads Win 2-1 Nail-Biter Versus Hermit Crabs
|
In a tight tilt between the Cut Off Crawdads and the Huntington Hermit Crabs, Phil Gulick was the difference-maker. The Cut Off left-hander excelled in his team's 2-1 win in 10 innings. Huntington has now lost 6 consecutive games.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 22-year old shortstop Les Phillips had a chance to be the hero. Huntington pitcher Joe García wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Phillips hit a sacrifice fly. The Crawdads had themselves a thrilling win.
Gulick called the win "a collective effort."
