Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Lake Erie Arryns and Newmarket Rogues.

Starting pitcher Salvador Pérez gave the Lake Erie Arryns a rock-solid effort. The San Manuel, Arizona native helped his team defeat the Newmarket Rogues, 3-1, at Arryns Ballpark. Pérez, now 4-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.

In the top of the ninth, Terry Smart stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Rogues were trailing 3-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when David Cole made a terrific pitch and Smart struck out. Gone was the dream of a Newmarket comeback.

The Arryns, at 44-30, have now won 5 straight.
