Beavers Best Puffer Fish in Pitching Duel
|
The Northwest Territory Beavers and Plattsburgh Puffer Fish played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Northwest Territory Beavers beat the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, 2-1, at Beaver Town. Starting pitcher Randy Powell was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The win brings the Beavers to 7-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
The Puffer Fish had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Beavers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old left fielder Dane Luck came to the plate. Luck hit a solo home run on a 0-1 changeup from Plattsburgh hurler Ruud Asmus. It was Luck's 1st home run of the year.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Powell said.
