Behind a solid performance from shortstop Ed Steele, the Cut Off Crawdads defeated the South Beach Blaze, 6-1. Steele went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Crawdads. Juan Sánchez, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4.2 innings. Cut Off's record now stands at 37-40, placing them 6th in the Premier A.
Héctor Avilés, who is rated as the 97th best prospect by BNN, aided the Cut Off cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Avilés said.
