The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus faced a tough opponent in Eugene pitcher Rubén Sánchez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Smokies Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Sánchez went 5 innings and allowed no runs. The 9th-place Hobeaus are 32-45.

Luis Martínez was the walk-off hero for Smoky Mountain. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Hobeaus shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Martínez.
