Cajuns Knock Off Centennial at Titans Ballpark
|
Fred Burton powered the Crowley Cajuns to a win over the Fort Knox Centennial. The final score was 7-5. The Crowley shortstop, who is tied for 4th in the PA- in doubles with 3, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. The winning pitcher was José Heredia. He's now 2-0. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Cajuns. Wu-shiun Ong sewed up the save, his 4th.
Eric Small aided the Crowley cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Small, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Losses have been few and far between for the Centennial, now 9-4.
