Uruguayans Take Down Centennial, 2-1
|
The Germantown Uruguayans eked out a 2-1 win versus the Fort Knox Centennial at Ballpark of Baxter. Nobody did more than pitcher Boyd Holohan. He was terrific. Holohan got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 5 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Carlos Tejeda recorded his 1st save for Germantown.
Germantown shortstop Armando Barrón said the only thing on his mind when he came to bat with the bases empty in the top of the sixth was making good contact. He did that much, and more! Barrón hit a solo home run to stake Germantown to a 2-1 lead. His 3rd home run of the season came off Fort Knox pitcher Eugene Smith.
"Makes our job easier," said Barrón, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
Germantown has a record of 8-5.
