The Delmarva Gallos eked out a 3-2 win versus the Put-In-Bay Commodores at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Josh Simms. He was terrific. Simms, the winner, moves to 4-5. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. The save went to Roger de Gooyer, number 16 for him.
Juan Díaz had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Delmarva. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Delmarva in front, 3-0.
Díaz called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
Delmarva is now 32-46, while Put-In-Bay is 46-32.
