In a low-scoring affair between the Crowley Cajuns and the Athletic Club KC U-21, pitcher Eric Scrivner was the difference between victory and defeat. The Crowley right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Cajuns win. The winning pitcher was Scrivner, now 1-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The U-21, now 5-9 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
Arturo Cortéz went 1-3, while adding 2 RBI for Crowley. The 19-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hughie Sworder. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
Cortéz called the win "a collective effort."
