Liberty U-21 Score Late to Win, 4-3
|
Redwood wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Peter Harris, falling to the Philadelphia Liberty U-21, 4-3. Harris threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Reliever Francisco Ramos picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Bob Morton took the loss. Denis Teissier picked up the save for Philadelphia, his 4th of the year.
César Castillo came through with a big-time hit for Philadelphia. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Castillo told the Philadelphia News. "But we take nothing for granted."
The defending champion Liberty U-21 are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 5th win in 14 games.
